Client requirements

Tesco Stores required a service partner to provide a professional move management, workplace renovation, furniture installation and relocation service covering Tesco Stores main offices in Hertfordshire and regions, this also incorporated Tesco Bank offices nationwide as well as call centres in Cardiff and Dundee.

Service solution

Premier Workplace Services has been working in partnership with Tesco Stores since the late 1990s and provides the UK’s leading grocery retailer with a completely integrated service covering move management, move logistics, interior refurbishment, IT and telecoms relocation works, sustainable clearances and office furniture remanufacturing.  

Integrating services from Premier Moves, Premier Interiors, Premier IT Systems and Premier Sustain, Premier Workplace Services have achieved successful delivery of many UK-wide projects for Tesco Stores Ltd.

The largest project so far has been the installation of Head Office teams to Welwyn Garden City in 2015-16, following the removal and clearance from Tesco’s previous Head Office in Cheshunt. This involved refurbishing the Welwyn Garden City workplace then moving furniture, IT and AV covering over 6,300 positions for over 5,300 staff from across 45 different departments. Through remanufacturing existing furniture, Tesco Stores saved £315k (approx. £200 per position). In excess of 100 tonnes of CO2 (e) were saved in total.

Other Tesco Stores Projects undertaken by Premier Workplace Services have included the Head Office in Edinburgh for 600 personnel, Tesco Banking call centre in Glasgow employing 1400 personnel, a call centre for Tesco Insurance in Newcastle employing 1200 staff and Tesco’s Stores call centres in Dundee and Cardiff.

For each project, Premier Workplace Services have liaised with the relevant Tesco teams, providing management of all works, removals, installation of furniture (remanufacturing where possible), IT and AV equipment and the relocation of all personnel into each building.

The Premier Sustain division has successfully diverted waste items from landfill, reusing and remanufacturing where possible, then donating unwanted items to charity through The Giving Back Project.
