As part of the wider BBC’s property consolidation strategy as well as BBC Worldwide’s overarching strategy, 1500 BBC Worldwide staff needed to move from the Media Centre, W12 and Foley Street, W1, to the newly redeveloped Stage 6 building – part of Television Centre – on Wood Lane, W12.
Premier Workplace Services was awarded this project following a competitive tender process. The contract required Premier to support BBC Worldwide in this relocation project as well as sustainably clearing both buildings.
The requirement was to provide a professional relocation service, supporting the reuse of a 1200 user benching system which needed reconfiguration to be re-usable in the new location. To be able to support this requirement Premier completed a full furniture audit.
“Our whole team were very impressed with the work Premier did and they proved to be great partners for us.”
Premier worked with BBC Worldwide’s programme team, the FM team as well as relevant consultants to develop a project plan which was to be delivered as a 6 phase move between February and March 2015 with desk installations taking place mid week and staff moving at weekends.
As an additional service, Premier carried out some re-upholstery of sofas and chairs to refresh the seating area. We also installed and tested the under desk electrics to support the IT installation.
Premier Workplace Services worked closely with the client to deliver a successful relocation project, on time and within budget, receiving positive feedback. The re-topping of existing desks and the refurbishment of chairs and soft seating resulted in the client saving more than 5.5 tonnes of CO2(e). The success of this project has now cemented an on-going relationship with Premier supporting BBC Worldwide’s storage and minor moves activities.
“Premier were professional, courteous, diligent and flexible – all of which were very much appreciated. We had a fast paced moves programme with numerous outside constraints, all of which Premier helped us deal with efficiently.
The weekend moves went smoothly with any issues arising being dealt with before staff arrived on Mondays, the service Premier provided in revitalising some of our more tired furniture and finding us some alternatives at the last minute was very well executed, and ensured every staff member could get on with their working day on arrival at the new site, with any outstanding queries quickly answered by Premier as required. ”
